The developement of the DEAD SLOW jeans needed several attemps. After figuring out the design, we found ourselves confronted with the workmanshio of heavy fabrics. No it's done. There are several fabrics to choose from: Japanese, from Europe and USA, in several weights and with or without selfedge.

SELVEDGE
In the early days, denim fabrics were woven manly by using shuttle looms. The shuttle carries a bobbin with yarn from one side to the other. In this way a "clean" edge or selvedege is produced on each side of the fabric. If the yarn reserve of the bobbin is used up, the bobbin is replaced with an full one. At this moment, a small but well visible knot is formed with the rest of the bobbin's yarn.This kind of denim fabrics measure apporximately 80cm wide. Over the years, this width has been profen conveninet for the production of cloth. Current fabric measure abot 150cm wide or more, which is about the double. Exept for a few really heavy materials, today there is no need to weave denim on shuttle looms. However, the "good" denim fabrics have a slevedge. On pants this selvedge appears generally in the side seam.
standart sizes
The size equals the waistband circumference in centimeters. Basically you can measure the waistband circumference of a well fitting pair of paints and use this for deducting your size. Measure the way it's shown in the image. The double of this measurement equals the waistband cirucumference. With this measurement you can localize your size in the table below. weight
Fabrics with a weight of more than 500g/m² give you a hard time when sewing. Especially the two heavy denim fabrics from Japan demanded a great deal of installation time an exercise. At the lap seam machine not only the folder, but also a stronger motor had to be upgraded, in order for the machine to to sting three needles through several layers of fabric. Also the search for the right sewing thread was paid dearly. And at several spots more space had to be created for the latter by means of abrasives.
